Working in the High Performance Space
Isn’t it great when your job supports you being your better self rather than a lesser version? ?? .
Two things that I REALLY enjoy about working in the High Performance space, is that it requires me to:
- Be both intense AND calm in high pressure moments i.e. the ability super switched on and calm at the ‘same’ time, for this I need to consistently create a state of strong intention and readiness.
- Place a high importance on my recovery. I like to make sure that my health is still thriving when my professional schedule is very busy (do you put in the extra effort to keep on top of things when busy or do your health practices fall to the side?
A busy schedule for me (I’m sure it’s not that much different for you) often includes really long days plus travel, and just like most people I won’t sleep well unless if I can’t calm down before getting in to bed, remember that sleep is the one thing you can’t try harder at, instead you have to let go…
To be my best in this space, both of the above aspects require that each morning (& some additional evenings) I do some form of mindfulness, intention setting, meditation or breath ‘practice’. The benefits of this business practice overflow in to my personal life and contribute to my greater self – or is it the other way around..??? Either way it’s a win-win ? .
If you are seeking greater control of your emotional state throughout your day, it’s key to understand that the rewards come to those who are dedicated to their ‘practice’, not so much to those wishfully thinking that in the ? of a stressful moment that they will automatically remember to breathe in the right way. It takes PRACTICE and it can be very difficult in the beginning.
? Not everyone is doing exactly what they wish for as a profession however can you still find aspects of your job which bring about a better you?
